Commissions

I am happy to consider commissions depending on subject matter, my workload, and any specific requirements or timescale requirements you may have.

Price will depend on canvas size, the complexity of the subject matter and the timescale required for completion of the painting, but to give you a rough idea, average prices are as follows:

9" x 12"  - £216

14" x 10" - £280

18" x 14" - £504

20" x 16" - £640

24" x 20" - £960

A quick rundown of the process follows:

Subject

While I am happy to work predominantly from photos, it's always best if I am able to view the subject matter in person and possibly even undertake some preliminary sketches or rough colour studies. Once the basic painting composition and style have been agreed, the client will pay a 50% non-refundable deposit. I will then be able to book you into my schedule and give you a rough idea of when the painting will be completed.

The Painting Commences

I will notify you when painting has commenced and, if you wish, thereafter keep you informed of progress with regular photographic updates. During this development stage, you can request minor changes to the painting if required.

Completion and Delivery

Once the painting has been completed and you have approved it, I will package it up securely and send it via courier. The painting will be provided without a mount or a frame, as I feel these choices are best made by the client once they have received the painting and are able to consider the best way to present it. If time allows, a coating of retouching varnish will be applied. This provides a temporary layer of protection from dust and moisture, but also allows the painting to dry properly. It is advised that the client adds a layer of permanent varnish to the painting about six months after receipt, when the painting has fully dried.
