My First Blog Entry

Hello world. My name is Tim and I've been painting properly in my spare time for about 3 years. I've taken up this creative pursuit quite late in life (I have just passed the half-century mark), although it would be misleading to say I've never thought of it before. I have always wanted to draw and paint, and did so quite a lot as a child, but I always lacked confidence, and by the time I'd left education, I was pretty convinced that it was something I couldn't do. As the years went by, I picked up a paintbrush every now and then (starting to tinker with oils in the early 2000s), but despite some pretty decent results, I rarely felt worthy of calling myself an artist. But in 2020, I thought I'd try a portrait of my late, great father-in-law. That worked out better than expected and, thanks to the encouragement of my wife, family and friends, I pressed on and have managed to finish quite a few pieces of art. So, really I am just starting out on my journey as an artist, and I thought it might be interesting to document here my progress, lessons learnt, and general mumblings. I hope to post something every now and then, so if you feel like tuning in to see how things are going, that would be splendid.
